Client: Mind The App Mind The App is an app that provides live service updates for the London public transport system, including tube lines, buses, trains, and river services. The app gives simple, easy-to-digest status updates, helping users stay informed about any delays or disruptions. Goal for the Project: The goal was to design an app icon that clearly conveys the app’s purpose: providing live transport status updates. The icon needed to be simple, memorable, and fit seamlessly with other app icons, while also standing out with a 3D effect and a blue and purple gradient. My Experience: This was a new challenge for me, as I hadn’t previously designed an app icon. I was excited to try my skills on this project and was eager to create a design that would be both functional and visually appealing. The Outcome: The developer asked me to create an icon that specifically featured a blue gradient background with a 3D look. After brainstorming, we decided that the icon should subtly incorporate the letter "M" to represent the app. The idea was to link the design to the tube system, so we settled on a broken rail graphic, using the broken part to form the "M". While the "M" isn’t immediately obvious, it fits with the app’s purpose, and the rail’s distinctive colour helps the icon stand out. I’m very happy with the final design, as it integrates well with other apps while maintaining a unique presence.
